Two spinster sisters living in a small mid-century Mexican town decide to supplement their income by renting a room in their ancestral home, causing a small stir in their neighborhood. Their lives are soon turned upside down when a younger man from the city moves in and challenges their parochial view of the world. Gonzalez Caballero (1927-2003) is considered one of Mexico's greatest contemporary playwrights. Dos hermanas solteronas que viven en un pueblo de México deciden rentar un cuarto de la vieja casa en la que viven pues no tienen suficiente ingreso económico. Esto causa gran conmoción entre la gente, ya que las dos hermanas lo rentan a un hombre joven y soltero. La llegada de este individuo marcara un giro en las vidas de estas dos hermanas al quebrar sus princípios y creéncias.
